Location

Marriott Road is a Residential Home providing 24 hour support for up to 6 individuals. It is set in the heart of Barnet and is close to all the high street amenities and to Barnet College. It is spacious and light, with a large attractive garden, living room and kitchen as well as a multi-purpose activity room where individuals engage in music, art, sensory and relaxation sessions.

Client Group

Currently there are three men and two women on the Autism Spectrum living at Marriott Road. Their average age is 57 years.

Activities

Individuals have a tailored support plan that focuses on enhancing each person’s social, psychological and learning needs. At the heart of each support plan is a respect for the individuals’ autism requirements and how they experience their world.

Residents are fully involved in the day to day management of their home and their personal lives, for example, discussing menus, choosing furnishings and colour schemes for their home and helping with the gardening. Individuals also attend a variety of day activities that meet their needs, for example, accessing the local College and/or day centre where options include, mixed media, arts and gardening projects. Leisure activities also feature highly and include, bowling, pub visits, cinema and theatre according to each person’s interests. Holidays in the UK and abroad are also favourites and have included visits to Cornwall, Crete, Butlins and the Lake District.

Staffing

The staff team comprises of a Service Manager, one Deputy Manager and eight Support Workers, two of whom are Waking Night. Our staff are fully trained to support individuals on the Autism Spectrum with complex needs. We provide a range of statutory and specialist training to ensure that the individuals we support have the optimum opportunity to grow and live as independently as possible within their own potential.

The staff team is supported by our Autism Consultant who working alongside our Therapeutic Support Service provides specialist advice, reflective practice and training, as well as hands-on support.

Collaborative Working

We have a longstanding relationship with family members and work closely with them. In addition to this, the “Friends of Marriott Road” steering group, comprising of parents and carers, meet on a regular basis to discuss matters concerning the home, fundraising and how individuals are supported.

We aim to work closely with Care Managers and other professionals involved in the care and support of those living in Marriott Road.
